Corrugated Cardboard is a material formed by placing a sheet of paper-based material between two plain paper-based plates. It is generally used for box production.
Corrugated Cardboard usually consists of paper sheets on a thickness of 0.25 mm. Corrugated cardboard is sometimes referred to as cardboard, but the cardboard is a different material.

Some important dates for the development of corrugated board are as follows;
1856- Healey and Allen received two British first corrugated paper patents. The first sample was corrugated with a very simple hand-operated machine consisting of two grooved cylinders, and this product was used as a primer for roller hats.
1871- American Albert L. Jones received the patent for corrugated cardboard for the first time as packaging material, used to pack the goods to be broken.
1874-In the United States, Oliver Long patented a corrugated cardboard, which he enhanced by putting a liner on one side.
1881 - Some producers, who are regarded as pioneers of the corrugated board, have patented innovations. These people intensified their work in developing new machines.
Thompson and Norris developed the first mechanically working single-sided machine and introduced the first 3 European manufacturers.

1895-Various equipment manufacturers entered corrugated board. First permanent (long length) corrugated cardboard machine Sefton Manufacturing Co. It was developed by Jefferson T. Ferres.
Corrugated Cardboard in Turkey
Corrugated cardboard with 126 years of history was first produced in our country in 1954, 83 years after its production in the world, in Saka _zmit. DAKO, which is the first establishment belonging to the private sector, started to operate in Istanbul in 1960, then entered BOMSAS in 1966, and 1968 in the sector. Rapid growth in real terms in the sector is seen after 1981. The fact that the first corrugated cardboard boxes were manufactured in America is why Standard Boxes are still called American Boxes today.
The increase in the number of firms entering the sector and the introduction of new investments by the existing firms have increased the capacity and production amounts in the sector in a short time.
